• Personal: 28 Mar 1921, Wellington Times, NSW; FROM VARIOUS SOURCES. A case of some importance was heard at the Bowral police court quite recently. Sarah Ellen Wilga Wood proceeded against Frederick James Frost for shooting a cattle dog, which she valued at £10. Defendant cross summoned plaintiff for the dog attacking him and tearing his trousers. From the evidence it appeared that George Kelly had a contract from the agent for the landlord to paint the house occupied by Mrs Wood. On January 12 she left the premises, and for their protection the dog was allowed to run loose in the yard. Subsequently Frost (who was employed by Kelly) went into the yard to work. The dog attacked him and would not allow him to leave. Some one handed him a gun and he shot the dog, giving it two charges, tho second to put it out of its misery The point was raised that Mrs wood should have been notified of the proposed visit of the painters, as she would then have taken the precaution to chain the dog up. This was upheld by the magistrate and the case against Mrs Wood was dismissed. Frost was fined £I and ordered to pay £5, the value of the dog, and costs. Wellington Times, NSW, Monday, 28 March 1921
