    The Dorunda sailed from Gravesend, London on 20 Oct 1885 and arrived at Cooktown, North Queensland on 9 Dec 1885. It proceeded to Townsville and was ordered to sail to Peel Island quarantine station on 11 December 1885.The Dorunda arrived in Mortein Bay on 14 Dec 1885 and proceeded to Peel Island on 15 December 1885.The ship and passengers remained in quarantine until the 16 Jan 1886 when they arrived in Brisbane, Queensland.
    There were seventeen deaths from cholera, four
    deaths (infants) from other causes ; two births
    on the ship, and one on Peel Island.

    DORUNDA 1875
    2,977 gross tons, length 368.5ft x beam 37.2ft, iron hull, one funnel, three masts (rigged for sail), single screw, speed 11 knots, accommodation for 237 passengers.
    Built 1875 by Wm. Denny & Bros, Dumbarton for British India Associated Steamers for the UK - India service. In 1881 she transferred to the Queensland Royal Mail route from UK to Brisbane and in 1884 carried the first cargo of frozen meat from Brisbane to the UK. 1887 rebuilt by Denny to 3,316 gross tons. 7th Dec.1894 wrecked at Peniche on the Portuguese coast.
    SHIPWRECKS ON THE UK - AUSTRALIA RUN
    Dorunda. Iron steamer, 3136 tons. Built at Dumbarton, 1875. Lbd 368.5 x 37.3 x 28.3 ft. Owned by the British, India Steam Navigation Company. Left Brisbane for London on 31 July 1894; wrecked on the Portuguese coast on 27 September 1894. Struck rocks near Peniche, but was soon towed free and beached. All the passengers and crew reached safety. By early November she was breaking up after a substantial amount of her cargo had been recovered. [AS6]

    TINANA
    News has just been receved of the sudden, death in Gympie to-day of Mrs. P. Bundesen, a resident cf Tinana, until a few months ago, when she removed to Gympie with her husband and family. The deceased was well known locallv and well liked by all. She was of a most kind hearted nature and a true friend in sickness and sorrow. Tinana folk will be shocked to hear of her death and will extend much sympathy to the bereaved husband and children.
