OBITUARY
The death of Mrs Jensine Christine Moes, an old and esteemed pioneer of the Pialba district, occurred at her residence, Chapel Road, Nikenbah, early on Saturday morning, after a long illness. The late Mrs Moes was born in Hardasleben, Denmark, and came out to Queensland in 1872. She married early in life and settled down in Nikenbah and with her husband, Mr Neils Moes, had been engaged in farming pursuits, and had been a resident of the district ever since. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a family of three sons, Messrs Christian (Thinoomba), Frederick (Murgon), and Ole Jensen Moes (Nikenbah), and two daughters, Mesdames C. W. Vollmerhausen (Bauple) and W. Steinhardt (Murgon). There are nineteen grand-children. She also leaves two brothers, Messrs Jens and Mads Madsen, and one sister, Mrs J. Hallet (Brisbane). One sister, Mrs Maren Miller, predeceased her eighteen months ago. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon from the Danish Chapel, Nikenbah, the remains being laid to rest in the Nikenbah cemetery. A particularly large and representative gathering at the funeral yesterday bore testimony to the wide esteem, respect and popularity that the deceased lady enjoyed. Messrs. J. Carlson and H. Whittaker represented No 3 Division of the Burrum Shire Council. The bereaved relatives received many messages of condolence, in addition to many floral tributes. The pall-bearers were Messrs. Christian, Frederick and Ole Jensen Moes (sons), C. W. Vollmerhausen and R. Steinhardt (sons-in-law) and M. Madsen (brother). The Rev. W. P. Wellimgton of the Methodist Church, assisted by Missioner Thompson, conducted most impressive services both at the chapel and at the graveside. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. J. M. Gettons, of Maryborough, in conjunction with Mr. Emil Jensen, of Nikenbah.
