Burton -Brightwell.
The marriage of Mr. John Burton (Audit Department, Government Railways, Tientsin, China, and youngest son of Mr. B. H. Burton, Clayfield) to Mrs. Flora M. Brightwell (widow of the late Mr. B. Brightwell, and eldest daughter of the late Captain Vosteen and Mrs. Vosteen) was quietly celebrated at St (John's Cathedral on 17th instant. The Rev Canon Simmons officiated Only immediate relatives and friends were present The bride entered the church with Dr. Wilton Love, who subsequently gave her away She wore a pretty gown of heliotrope crepe de Chine, the panels of the skirt being richly embroidered with westeria blossoms, and the magyar bodice being partly composed of Oriental trimming, she also wore a hat to harmonise She was attended hy a maid of honour (Miss Mildred Brightwell), who wore a pretty gown of pale pink silk, and a black hat with lancer plumes. Mr Carl Swenson acted as best man.
After the ceremony the guests were entertained at Eschenhagens at a wedding tea. The tables were prettily decorated with wisteria blooms and ferns. Miss B Treacy acted as hostess owing to the absence of the bride's mother, who was too ill to attend. Miss Treacy wore a smart gown of grey striped voile, and a picture hat of grey, with white ostrich plumes. The invited guests included Mr and Mrs B. H. Burton (parents), Mr and Mrs B. Burton, Mr and Mrs E. Burton Mr and Mrs G. Brightwell, Miss A. Burton (sister), Misses Mildred and Gertrude Brightwell, Mr and Mrs Dunbar, Mr and Mrs Beer, Mr and Mrs A. Kessels, Mr and Mrs Thomas, Dr and Mrs Wilton Love, Misses Beryl and Nita Brightwell, Mr Jas. Dnnne, Misses Treacy, Fitzgerald, Dodwell,Mr Farow and Mrs Farow (sister). Misses Greene, Malyon, Mrs Tunney, Mr and Mrs S. Drysdale, Mr and Mrs Webber, Mr and Mrs Kirby, Mr Robert Kaye, and Mr and Mrs Chadwick.
Mr and Mrs Burton subsequently left for Southport and Tweed Heads. Mrs Burton wore a smart coat and skirt ot tussore silk, and a brown beaver toque The presents were numerous and pretty. After their return from Tweed Heads, Mr and Mrs Burton will go to England.
