    Lonnie was stationed at Lackland AFB Biloxi, Miss. After basic training, Lonnie taught school to update returning pilots and their crew in the latest in aeronautinautical engineering. He put in a transfer to Japan, spending 2 years there. He was air to ground reconisence in Air Force spy ships. They flew missions over the Shakalin Islands belonging to China and Russia. They were escorted out of Russian air space many times by Russian fighter planes. This was during the cold war, and around the time of Powell incident.
    All of his missions were top secret, one Christmas he didn't get to call, as he was state side, on a mission, and the where abouts of his plane was supposed to be unknown. They flew missions to Tulle, Greenland, staying there a day, a few weeks, and then back to Japan.

    May 16. 1977. aged 41 years. Beloved son of James Edward and Anne B. Moore. Dear Father of Shelby, Sean, Brett and Derek Moore. Brother of Joanne (Roland) Londo and Nancy (Merle) Parker. Further survived by other relatives and friends. In state at the funeral home Thurs. after 5 PM with complete funeral services at 7:30PM The Rev. Frank Dauner officiating.
