- Sommer-Tesch
A pretty wedding was celebrated on February 22 in the newly-erected German Lutheran Church at Teutoburg. The bride- groom was Mr. George Sommer, son of Mr. Wilhelm Sommer, of Gramzow, near Alberton, and the bride, Miss Helene Tesch, eldest daughter of Mr. L. Tesch, one of the oldest pioneers of Blackall Range. Rev. M. Krause, from South Bris- bane, officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a Princess robe of white silk eoliqune over glace silk, braided on corsage and draping of lace. She also wore a beautiful bridal veil over a coronet of orange blossoms, and carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses (a gift of the bridegroom). The bridesmaids, Misses Ida Tesch and Augusta Sommer (sisters of the bride and bridegroom) wore frocks of white Swiss muslin, trimmed with Valenciennes and embroidery insertion and white hats trimmed with red roses. Mr Edward Tesch acted as bestman. After the ceremony the wedding guests were entertained in a marquee erected in the orange grove at the bride's parents' residence, Whyenia. The wedding gifts were numerous and handsome. Mr. and Mrs. George Sommer subsequently left for Tweed Heads, where the honeymoon was spent.
