    THE relatives and friends of the late JAMES SAMUEL BIRTLES and family, are respectfully invited to attend his funeral, to move from his late residence, 136 Walker-street, THIS (SATURDAY) AFTERNOON, at 2.30 o'clock.

    OBITUARY
    MR. JAMES S. BIRTLES
    The passing of Mr. James Samuel Birtles yesterday evening will come as a great shock to his many friends. He succumbed after a brief illness borne with great fortitude. Mr. Birtles was born in Maryborough 48 years ago and had resided here all his life, with the last three years spent in Childers. He was a valued employee of Messrs. Stuparts Limited for 34 years having joined the firm as a boy. He had been a life-long supporter ot the Walker-street Methodist Church and Sunday School, and at the time of his death he was a trustee and senior circuit steward, having held the latter position for 20 years. The late Mr. Birtles had been associated with the Doon Villa Bowling Club. He is sur vived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Dorothea Birtles, one daughter. Miss Daphne Doreen Birtles, and one son, Darrel James, and also one sister. Mrs. T. Deighton (Maryborough). Three brothers. Messrs. Joseph (Maryborough), W. J. Birtles (Apple Tree Creek) and C. E. Birtles (Gympie), and his aged mother, Mrs. Lousia Birtles, of Maryborough, also survive. The funeral will take place this (Saturday) afternoon at 2.30 o'clock from his late residence, 136 Walker-street He was a member of tbe Independent Order of Oddfellows Loyal Maryborough Lodge. No. 13, and members are asked to attend his funeral.
