    WEDDING
    WADE-HELMSTEDT
    Bauple, February 10
A wadding of interest to residents of the Bauple and Gundiah districts, was celebrated at St. Luke's Church of England, Bauple, on January 17. The contracting parties were Mr. Leslie Harold Wade (second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Wade ("Willow Dale," Gundiah) and Miss Dorothy Gertrude (Peggy) Helmstedt, elder daughter of Mr, and Mrs. C. W. Helmstedt, ("Charlanna," Bauple). The Rev. J. Ellliott (Maryborough) officiated, and Mr. Trussell presided at the organ. As thee organ pealed forth the "Bridal March," the bride entered the church on the arm of her father, who subsquently gave her away. White mariette cut on classical lines formed the wedding gown which was inlet with white silk needlerunlace at yoke, and long sleeves puffed above the elbows with inlet of lace. There were inlets of lace at hips to foil, with little flares finished to ankle length. A coronet of orange blossoms and buds held in place her beautifully embroidered tulle veil , worn in a simple cap fashion set with a posy of blossoms and cascading over the shoulder forming a deep train. She carried a bouquet of Eucharist lillies interspersed with bridal fern tied with white satin ribbon, and wore white shoes and gloves.
Miss Beryl Phillips (cousin of the bride) attended as bridesmaid in a frock of pink elephant crepe and chantilly lace, with pink band around her head. The yoke and sleeves of the fully flared ankle length skirt were lace. She wore pink gloves and shoes and carried a bouquet of pink gerberas and fern tied with pink tulle.
Dressed in an ankle length frock of white organdi with puffed sleeves which were shirred at the shoulders and waist, then finished with organdi ruching, Miss Lilian Helmstedt (only sister of the bride) made a dainty little train bearer.
The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. J. A. Wade (the bridegroom's brother).
Close friends and relatives of both families were entertained at a sumptuous wedding dinner at the residence of the bride's parents. The Rev. J. Elliott presided, and the usual toasts were duly honoured. The bride's mother was attired in black Grafton voile, relieved with mastic, and wore a mastic hat to tone and gloves to match, and carried a bouquet of red snapdragons tied with mastic ribbon. She received the guests, and was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, who close a frock of navy blue crepe de Chine, with hat of peach coloured panama trimmed with ribbon and gloves to match. She carried a bouquet of lavender creeper and roses tied with pink ribbon.
The spacious verandah was nicely decorated with wedding bells and white and pink streamers, while the well laden tables were prettily relieved in floral design, pride of place being taken up by a handsome two-tier wedding cake made by Stellmach's, Maryborough. The church was very appropriatelv decorated with white flowers and asparagus fern by girl friends of the bride.
The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a pale pink xylonite toilet set, to the bridesmaid a rock crystal necklace with earrings to match, and to the train bearer, a gold bangle. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a xylonite shaving set. The happy couple left by car for the Northern Rivers, N.S.W., where the honeymoon was spent.
