A BUSH WEDDING. BARGENQUAST-THOMSEN.
A very pretty wedding took place at the residence of Mr. P. C. W. Bargenquast, West Teebar, on Tuesday morning, the 18th ultimo. The contracting parties being Mr. John Bargenquast, eldest son of Mr. P. C. W. Bargenquast, and Miss Mary Thomsen, eldest daughter of Mr. Sophus Thomsen, of East Teebar. The Rev. R.W. Ballantine, Methodist minister officiated.
The room was nicely decorated by the friends of the young couple, a wedding bell being suspended over the bridal party. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very nice in a gown of rich cream Japenese silk. The blouse was made with a transparent yoke of rich silk Maltese insertion, and small painted spaulettes, edged with silk ruche sleeves, puffed with deep cuffs and trimmed with bands of rich Maltese insertion. The skirt, falling full with a deep fringe at hem, and slightly trained, was also trimmed, was also trimmed with a rich Maltese insertion.
The bridesmaid were Miss Sophie Thomsen, sister of the bride and Miss Vera Bargenquast, sister of the bridegroom. The best man was Mr. Hermann Bargenquast, brother of the bridegroom, and groomsman, Mr. Albert Thomsen, brother of the bride. After the ceremony the bridal party, led the war amid a shower of rice and rose leaves, to the large booth erected near the house, where the wedding breakfast was partaken of.
The large table was laden with all manner of good things, and a large number sat down, making quite a spectacle. The beautiful three-tier wedding cake in the centre, setting off the whole scene.
After the breakfast the quests were asked to charge their glasses, and a very neat little speech, the father of the bridegroom proposed the health of the newly wedded couple. Mr. Bargenquast, on behalf of his wife and self, thanked all those who were present for all their many good wishes. Over sixty guests were present, and after the breakfast amused themselves in different ways until evening, when dancing was indulges in
until the small hours of the morning.
The presents were valuable and numerous, among the number being a handsome cheque from the bridegroom's parents. The bridegroom's gifts to the bridemaids were to Miss Vera Bargenquast a ring; to miss Sophie Thomsen a brooch.
Mr. and Mrs. Bargenquast left by train for Maryborough, where the honeymoon was spent. The travelling dress was a violet cloth trimmed white speckled white silk braid and violet buttons.
