BOGE - SUMMERFELD
A very pretty wedding was solemnised at the German (Lutheran) Church last Wednesday morning, (-7.1908) at 11.30 am, the Reverend Frank officiating. The contracting parties being Mr Albert Boge, of Taabinga Village, and eldest son of the late Mr. Marcus Boge and Mrs. Anthilde Boge, to Wilhelmina Catharine (Minnie), daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Sommerfeld, "Red Rose Farm", Tinana. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father, who subsequently gave her away. On her arrival at the church she was met by two tiny tots, Alma Gehrmann and Lily Rillie, who strewed rose petals on her path. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Tina Boge (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Hill, Tinana. Mr. William Boge attended as best man. The bride was prettily gowned in cream Sicilian trimmed with lace and insertion and tiny pin tucks (and insertion). The skirt was made walking length, and the bride wore the wreath and veil and carried a shower bouquet. The bridesmaids were both dressed in cream and carried shower bouquets. Miss Copas presided at the organ. The church was prettily decorated by friends of the bridegroom.
Suspended over the happy couple was a pretty floral wedding bell. When they were pronounced man and wife a shower of rose petals was made to fall on the bell. The bridegroom's present to each bridesmaid was a gold brooch and the two smaller ones, gold lace pins.
After the ceremony the guests drove to the residence of the bride's parents where a sumptuous repast was served under a pretty marguee. Pastor Frank proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom in a very happy manner to which the bridegroom briefly responded. Mr. W. Whittaker proposed the health of the bridesmaids which was responded to, on their behalf, by Mr. W. Boge. The toast of the parents was entrusted to Mr. Fulsig, and to which Mr. Sommerfeld responded. "Our Guests" was entrusted to Mr. A. Whittaker, the guests rising and singing :"We are Jolly Good Fellows".
The bride's travelling frock was navy blue voile. The honeymoon is being spent at Pialba. The bouquets were made and presented by Miss Gehrmann.
It would be difficult to enumerate the presents owing to the parents of the bride living some distance out of town. A number was sent to a given place in town: others were taken out to Red Rose Farm and others were held at Kingaroy.
Those that our correspondent saw were certainly very useful and valuable without exception. The three-tier wedding cake came from Stellmach & Son and reflected credit on the firm mentioned. The bridal dress was made by Mrs. Marcus Boge (bridegroom's mother) and the travelling dress by Mrs. Hollington, Bazaar Street, Maryborough. Mr. & Mrs. Boge will make their future home in Taabinga Village.
