    GOLDEN WEDDING.
The celebration of the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. W. Simpson, of "Goonurgi," Rosemount-terrace, Windsor, was held at Morris House tea rooms on February 19, when relatives and friends of the couple entertained them at afternoon tea. Though both are natives of Scotland, they migrated to Queensland at different times when young, and were married at Beenleigh by the Rev. Whiting according to the rites of the Congregational Church (although both are Presbyterians on February 19, 1879. The tea rooms were tastefully decorated for the occa- sion with roses, asters, gerberas, zin- nias, and maiden hair fern with gold ribbon. A centre of attraction was a two-tier wedding cake, the gift of the children, to whose order it was made at Rowe's Cafe. The members of the family present were Mr. and Mrs. W. Simpson, jun. (Zillmere), Mrs. C. Smith (Windsor), Mrs. C. J. Douglas (Sandgate), Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Simpson (Nundah), Mr. and Mrs. C. Bryce (Windsor), Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Cole (Maleny), and the Misses Simpson (2). The invited guests present were Mrs. A. Cameron (Windsor), Mrs. Swan (Redbank). Mr. and Mrs. W. Auld (Northgate). Mr. A. Auld (Zillmere), Mr. and Mrs. M. Nothling (West'End), Mrs. Burgess (Kelvin Grove), Mrs. Funnell (Ashgrove), and Mr. C. M. Gomm (Brisbane). Mr. Nothling occu- pied the chair, and in proposing the health of Mr. and Mrs. Simpson recalled the fact that Mrs. Simpson was the first white woman resident m Maleny, she having arrived there on horseback, and carrying in her arms her eleven-months-old baby. Mr. Simpson had there successfully followed farming pursuits, and was one of the oldest Justices of the Peace in Queensland, while Mrs. Simpson was for many years the only nurse in Maleny, having been in general request. Mr. Nothling also proposed the health of Mrs. Cameron, who held the privilege of having been bridesmaid at the wedding of the honoured couple 50 years ago at Beenleigh. Mr. Simpson, sen., responded for himself and Mrs. Simpson, and Mr. Bryce on behalf of Mrs. Cameron. Mr. Bryce
also proposed the health of the family, to which Mr. Simpson, jun.. responded. The golden wedding presents included a purse containing two sovereigns from Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Simpson.

    Life Story 27 Jan 1932
    Mrs. J, Simpson.
Mrs. J. Simpson, wife of Mr. W, Simpson, of Herbert-street, Wickham terrace, passed away on January 24, after a very short illness. The deceased lady was over 70 years of age, was bom in the Logan district, a member of the Auld family, which helped in the pioneering there. She removed with her husband to the North Coast fully half a century ago, and was one of the first white women at Maleny. From Maleny she went to Landsborough, then known as Mellum Creek, but later on the family went back to the Blackall Range, where Mr. Simpson followed farming until about five years ago, when he removed with the late Mrs. Simpson to Brisbane. Shortly after this event Mr. and Mrs. Simpson celebrated their golden wedding. Besides her husband, the late Mrs. Simpson leaves three sons, Messrs. W, Simpson (Landsborough), A. and D. Simpson, and six daughters, Mesdames C. Smith and C. Bryce (Brisbane), T. Cole (Maleny), J. Douglas (Sandgate), and Misses E. and O. Simpson (Brisbane), and many grandchildren.

    IN MEMORIAM

SIMPSON.-In loving memory of my dear
Wife and Mother. Jane Simpson, who passed away on January 24th, 1932.
Inserted by her loving Husband and
    Family.
This is the day of remembrance,
Sad and bitter to us all,
When the one we loved was taken
By a sad and sudden call.
A better wife and mother never lived,
    Or one so true and kind;
Her equal in this weary world
    We very seldom find.
Her heart was always In her home,
She toiled and did her best,
Till God did say: Your toil is done,
Come home and take your rest.
SIMPSON.-In loving memory of our dear
Mother and Grandmother, who passed away January 24th, 1932.
