Vera Marie Chappell Jacobsen

Vera Marie Chappell Jacobsen, beloved mom, grandmother, and wife, at age 83, went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2017. She was born in Pike County, Kentucky, on July 4, 1934, to Harry and Icy Carter.
Marie graduated from Belfry High School in Kentucky in 1952, and later received her Associates Degree from Umpqua Community College. She married Homer Chappell in 1957, and had a son, Charles Chappell, in 1961. She married Marvin Jacobsen in 1987.
Besides being a wonderful mother, she worked as a telephone operator, as a sales associate in various industries, and also as a medical biller for Douglas Community Hospital. After retirement, she loved gardening and was an avid reader which included daily Bible reading and praying for her family.
Marie is survived by her son, Charles Chappell and his wife, Gloria; grandchildren, Jeremy Chappell and his wife, Abby, Bethany Barrows and her husband, John, Levi Chappell and his wife, Katlin; along with great-grandson, Chip; and two more great-grandchildren on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Icy Carter; and her husband, Marvin Jacobsen.
Memorial service will be held Monday, October 9, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Winston Foursquare Gospel Center in Winston OR.
