      Hector Estrup (architect)

Hector Frederik Jansen Estrup ( 20 March 1854 in Viuf - 24 November 1904 in Horsens ) was a Danish architect who made a special mark on Horsens. He was the father of the mayor of Copenhagen Lauritz Estrup .

Estrup's parents were booksellers in Kolding , later hospital manager in Randers Laurits Carl Constantin Estrup and Larsine Knudine Blichert. He became a bricklayer in 1872 and graduated from the Technical Institute in 1871 . He was then admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in September 1871, from which he graduated in March 1880 . He was employed as a draw at HB Storck and was later conductor for him by the restoration of the Church of Our Savior in Horsens in 1879 -80 and Abbey Church 1888 - 92 .

He received support from the Ministry of the Interior in 1881 , was a city ??councilor in Horsens for 15 years and was principal of Horsens Technical School from 1889 . He was also co-director of Sparekassen for Horsens By og Omegn .

Hector Estrup chose to settle in Horsens in 1882 , and in the decades leading up to the turn of the century he left a decisive mark on the provincial town. Especially in the Stjernholm district, in the eastern part of the city, Estrup was the architect of many of the buildings that were built after the municipality subdivided the area around the former manor house Stjernholm .

Estrup traveled in Germany , France ( Paris ) and Italy 1881-82 and exhibited at the Nordic Industry, Agriculture and Art Exhibition in Copenhagen 1888 .

Hector Estrup was married on 26 October 1883 in Copenhagen to Albertine (Alba) Zwergius (5 August 1854 at Sonnerupgård, Plejelt - 14 September 1909 in Copenhagen), daughter of a master, later owner of Råballegård Frederik Zwergius and Albertine Eskildsen. He is buried in Horsens.
