      Preben Christian Heiberg Wernberg-Møller (* 15. Februar 1923[1] in Kerteminde; ? 6. Februar 2016[2]) war ein dänisch-britischer Semitist.

      Wernberg-Møller gehörte zu den ersten Forschern, die sich mit den Schriftrollen vom Toten Meer befassten. Seine Oxforder Dissertation (unter Godfrey R. Driver) behandelt die Gemeinderegel (1QS). Wernberg-Møller war im Gespräch als einer der Kandidaten für das internationale Publikationsteam der Texte, ging jedoch stattdessen 1954 als Lecturer in Semitic Languages and Literatures an die Universität Manchester (Department of Near Eastern Studies). 1968 kehrte er als Nachfolger von John Emerton als Reader in Semitic Philology an die Universität Oxford (St Peter?s College) zurück, wo er bis 1990 lehrte.

      Preben Christian Heiberg Wernberg-Møller (born February 15, 1923 [1] in Kerteminde ; ? February 6, 2016 [2] ) was a Danish-British Semitist .

      Wernberg-Møller was one of the first researchers to study the Dead Sea Scrolls . His Oxford dissertation (under Godfrey R. Driver ) deals with the church rules (1QS). Wernberg-Møller was interviewed as one of the candidates for the international publication team of the texts, but instead went to the University of Manchester (Department of Near Eastern Studies) as a lecturer in Semitic Languages ??and Literatures in 1954 . In 1968 he returned to Oxford University (St Peter's College) as the successor to John Emerton as Reader in Semitic Philology , where he taught until 1990.

    • Wernberg-Møller Preben Died peacefully on 6th February 2016, aged 92 years. Beloved husband of Sasha, father of Janey, Sonia, Lars, Anne and Alison and grandfather to his 14 grandchildren. Funeral to be held at St Nicholas Church, Old Marston, Oxford on Friday 19th February at 11am.

      Dr Preben Christian Heiberg Wernberg-Møller, MA, DPhil Oxf, died peacefully at home on 6 February 2016.

      He was Professorial Fellow and University Reader in Semitic Philology at St Peter's between 1968 and 1990, and an Emeritus Fellow from 1991. He also served as Dean of Degrees from 1976 to 1984.

      His funeral will be held at St Nicholas' Church, Old Marston, on Friday 19 February at 11.00.
