      2) Preben Christian Heiberg Wernberg-Müller, born 15 February 1923 in Kerteminde. cand.theol. 19481 (egregie). Associate Professor of Semitic Philology at St. Peter'sCollege, Oxford, England.

Other family: Niels August Wernberg (1814-1865), brother of John Wernberg-Müller's grandfather, was parish priest, 1857-1865 in Vildbjerg-Nï¿vling, Ringkïb½bing County.

In 1901, John Wernberg-Müller from Birkeried High School came to Fredericia to become a catechist with the chairman of the Inner Mission, diocesan provost Fr. Zeuthen. They have two opposites of mind. For while Provost Zeuthen was somewhat heavy-hearted, Wernberg-Müller had a bright mind, which he always retained, even in his last years of illness so marked by years. - It turned out, however, that these two men got a quite excellent collaboration that turned into a friendship for life.

Wernberg-Müller was a hardworking and lively priest who was very diligent about home visits. When he e.g. in 1908 came to Borbjerg-Hogager pastorate, he visited during one year all the pastorate's households. Here he stood for eight years in a rich church life for both young and old.

In his next office as resident chaplain at Sct. Peders Church in Randers and at the same time parish priest in Vorup, he shaped by his living sermons, his house visits and his magnificent mind to get all sections of the population to speak, so Vorup Church became too small to the congregation there.

But here he slipped into the overbearing work. After some good years in Kerteminde, the disease began to affect him at the age of fifty.

In the places where Wernberg-Müller worked, he left behind the memory of a loving person who was gripped by being in the service of God both on the pulpit and by the sickbed, and it was him a great joy that he had been entrusted to go to people with the word of God.
