Christian Olufsen Engelstoft (1703-1727)
Engelstoft was born in Ribe as the son of councilor and county councilor Oluf Christian Engelstoft.
After graduating from university in 1695, he became an aide to NL Struch and married his daughter. Two sons and two daughters survived childhood. Both sons became priests, in Sebber and Lundby, respectively. The two daughters were married on Fanø: Ingeborg with customs visitor Christian Friederich Gallesen and Mette Margrethe with her father's assistant, Jens Lauridsen Foss.
Engelstoft was described as a capable, well-educated, gifted and cheerful man who was benevolent to the poor and needy. In addition, he sacrificed a lot on repairing the church.
Due to age and fragility, he hired Jens Lauridsen Foss as assistant in 1727, and in 1739 he completely took over the office.
Engelstoft died on 27 November 1742.
