      Søn af sognepræst Morten Mortensen Hegelund og Marine, Ålborg. Gift 1558 med Marine Laugesdatter (1540-1600), datter af rådmand Lauge Steffensen og Mette Christjernsdatter Stephansen, Ribe. [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] [18] [19] [20] [21] [22] [23]

      Studerede i København, Leuven og Paris. Blev borger i Ribe i 1550'erne og drev studehandel og fiskeri, 1566 rådmand, 1568 kongelig tolder, 1577 borgmester.

      Kongen gav ham 1577 vistnok et par gårde i Farup sogn i forlening og senere overtog han sammen med et par andre byens vinkælder. Fik 1581 et kannikedømme ved domkirken.

      Om hans død fortælles, at han sammen med andre af borgerskabets i Ribe var på vej ud for at modtage liget af byens anden borgmester, Hans Fanniger, der var død på en rejse til Fanø. Da Peder Hegelund kom liget nær, blev han så heftigt syg, at han døde kort efter.

      Enken Marine gift 1593 med Laurids Ægidiusen (1531-1597), tidligere rektor ved Ribe Katedralskole, præst i V. Vedsted og kannik.

      Son of parish priest Morten Mortensen Hegelund and Marine, Ålborg . Married 1558 to Marine Laugesdatter (1540-1600), daughter of councilor Lauge Steffensen and Mette Christjernsdatter Stephansen, Ribe. [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] [18] [19] [20] [21] [22] [23]

      Studied in Copenhagen , Leuven and Paris . Became a citizen of Ribe in the 1550s and ran a stud trade and fishing, 1566 councilor, 1568 royal customs officer, 1577 mayor.

      In 1577, the king apparently gave him a couple of farms in Farup parish on loan and later he took over the town's wine cellar together with a few others. Received a canonry at the cathedral in 1581.

      It is said of his death that he, along with others of the bourgeoisie in Ribe, was on his way out to receive the body of the town's second mayor, Hans Fanniger, who had died on a trip to Fanø. When Peder Hegelund came close to the body, he became so seriously ill that he died shortly after.

      The widow Marine married in 1593 to Laurids Ægidiusen (1531-1597), former principal at Ribe Cathedral School , priest in V. Vedsted and canon .
