1847 - 1924 (77 years)
||George William Muller |
||9 May 1847
||Dorothy Simpson (nee Muller) recalled c.1980 that he ran away from boarding school in Yorkshire to sea; dock superintendent for cargo in Royal Docks; first wife left a son two daughters in East Ham. Dorothy also recalled that Elizabeth was his second wife. Betty Simpson recalled c.2010: Captain in Merchant Navy, later Superintendent of Cargo at the Royal Group of Docks, Port of London (mainly on the Isle of Dogs); left his widow virtually destitute because he was over-generous and open-handed to unemployed dockworkers; he felt sorry for them and used to invite them home for supper; she had to take in paying guests to survive. |
||Lived 11 Osborne Road, Forest Gate, London. This property seems to have been sold or passed to the Simpsons, who lived there in the 1920s and who married into the Muller family (David Caldow Simpson married Dorothy Helen Muller in 1918) |
