Alvin Stell
Alvin Stell, 87, of 1255 N. Main, Canton, died at 12.35 a.m., Monday (Dec. 7, 1992) at Graham Hospital.
Born May 20, 1905, in Putman Township, the son of John and Elma (Bundesen)Stell, he married Ruby Ketcham on Aug. 18, 1929 in Topeka, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include one son of Topeka; and two granddaughters, Julie Stell of St. Joseph, Mo., and Jennifer Stell, at home. He was preceeded in death by one brother and two sisters.
He retired from Spoon River Electric on June,1 1970. He was a member of AF&AM Morning Star Lodge 734 for over 50 years.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery, the Rev. Robert Holler officiating. Privat family visitation will be held at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home.
Memorials may be made to Morning Star Lodge.

Alvin Stell, 87, of 1255 N. Main died Monday, Dec. 7, 1992, at Graham Hospital.
Born May 20, 1905, in Putman Township to John and Elma Bundesen Stell, he married Ruby Ketcham Aug. 18, 1929, in Topeka, Kan. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, John, and two granddaughters, Julie and Jennifer Stell, all of Topeka, Kan.
One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
He had worked at Spoon River Electric, retiring in 1970.
He also was a member of AF&AM Morning Star Lodge 734 for more than 50 years.
Graveside services will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.

Spoon River Electric Cooperative was incorporated in September, 1938 under the Cooperative, Not-For-Profit Act of the State of Illinois. The co-op was organized as a result of farmers, who tried unsuccessfully to have electric service extended to their farms. With the help of Mr. John Watt, then Fulton County Farm Advisor; Attorney H.B. Taylor of Canton; and Mr. Warren Maple, then Executive Secretary of the Farm Electrification Committee of the State of Illinois, progress was made.
