    BLAMPIED.-On the 3rd. August at St Vincent's Hospital, Augustine (Augie) Blampied, Professor of French, Mentone, after a long and painful illness.

    The prize distribution, preceded by a most enjoyable concert, of Mdlle. Blampied's French pupils, was held by the kind invitation of Mrs. Dick How, at her residence. "The Rest," Abbotsfcrd, on Saturday, December 10. The little ones, whose ages ranged from 4 to 14, were a revelation, for they sang and recited, and danced as to the manner (French) born! Between the programme and distribution of prizes, two pleasant little surprises were sprung upon the hostess and Mdlle. Blampied, the former being presented, on behalf of the pupils, with a beautiful posy, by wee Francie Dillon, and Mademoiselle with a silver-mounted bread platter by Mavis Boord. The successful prize-winners were:-Senior Division, Richard Row, Mardi Dillon, Mavis Boord, Vera Thomas, Gwen Thomas. Junior Division; Willie Reid, Jack Lawson, Harold Brockhoff, Gladys Dodge. Robbie Edwards. Kindergarten,Billie Row, Glide Reid, Cyril Lennon An adjournment was made to the billiard room, where instead of balls and cues a most sumptuous repast was spread, and needless to say done full justice to by the happy little band.
