  	During the progress of a wood chopping contest that was being held at Stawell on Thursday afternoon, one of the competitors, named Peter Gehan, a well known wood chopper, aged 25 years, suddenly expired. Gehan had chopped his log through, and was in the act of putting on his coat when he fell back unconscious. Dr. Fox was summoned, and arrived in a few minutes, but pronounced life extinct.
