COURT REJECTS CLAIM BY FARMER'S WIDOW
A claim against the Insurance Commissioner for workers' compensation by Eunice Ivy Aiken, widow of Raymond
    Alexander Campbell Aiken, farmer, of
Kingaroy, was rejected in a judgment
by the President of the Industrial
    Court (Mr. Justice Webb) yesterday.
The industrial magistrate at Kingaroy had decided that Aiken was a share farmer and had allowed the claim. In evidence it was stated that Aitken's mother had a life interest in the farm. Aiken's lands formed a substantial part of the undertaking, and Aiken was the owner of the greater part of the machinery and plant.
There was no written agreement between Aiken and his mother, and it appeared that Aiken could do what he liked in the management of the farm.
Mr. Justice Webb found that it was unreasonable to hold that Aiken was a
share farmer, and set aside the decision of the industrial magistrate.
