Scobie "Ian" Arnott Jr., 56, passed away September 5, 2013 at his home in Gering Ne. A private viewing will be held September 9, 2013, a Memorial Service will be held at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. Burial services will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering Ne. Ian was born on August 21, 1957 in Winchester Ma., the son of Scobie Arnott Sr. and Marilyn (Maxon) Arnott. He attended Ensworth School in Nashville TN and later attended Gering High School. He managed and then owned Arnott's Hardware Lawn and Garden Center in Gering where he dedicated 17 years of his life. He eventually returned to school and attended Aims Community College in Greeley CO where he obtained his Associates degree in Criminal Justice.He was married to the late Ivanda "Ivy" Arnott for 17 years and together they had two children Krystal (Arnott) Rodriguez and Scobie Arnott III.
He took any opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren Adryana, Alyck, and Maxon. In addition he had various hobbys such as photography, and coin collecting.
Survivors include his daughter Krystal (Arnott) and Jason Rodriguez and their children Adryana and Alyck of Scottsbluff; son Scobie and Mary (Mumm) Arnott III and child Maxon of Scottsbluff; father Scobie Arnott Sr. of North Carolina formally of Scottsbluff; brother Russel Arnott of Washington; brother Carl and Kim Arnott and their children the quadruplets Brooke, Brittany, Brianne, and Campbell of North Carolina formally of Mitchell; brother Keith and Becky Arnott and children Collin and Teige of North Carolina; brother Roger and Jamie Arnott and children Sydney and Hallie of North Carolina.He was preceded in death by his mother Marilyn (Maxon) Arnott as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.

General Interest
Sr Shirley was born on 5th December 1926 at Ganmain, second eldest daughter of Elizabeth and George Geach. Her father died when she was quite young and Shirley's widowed mother married again, to Arthur Sears, BEM. Her parents by their example instilled in Shirley strong family values of responsibility and service to the wider community.
Shirley's sisters, Marie, Patrica, Janet and her brother George have predeceased her. Her sister, Margaret Wheeler and her nephews and nieces in the Fleming, Burns and Batchelor families are left to mourn the loss of their loving aunt.
Shirley attended Moss Vale Public School and for a short time, Bowral High School. Sr M. Clare de Lauret OP instructed her in the faith when she was in First Year High School and the new Catholic student moved to Dominican Convent Elm Court in Third Year. On completion of her schooling she worked for PC Bourne and Co., Seed and Produce Merchants at Moss Vale, as office assistant for two and a half years.
Shirley joined the Dominican community in Maitland and was professed as Sr M. Brendan on 8th December 1946. She taught in Newcastle, Bathurst, Brisbane, Melbourne (Principal), Mayfield, Maitland and Hobart and was involved in the administrative work of Santa Sabina College Strathfield. Shirley also served as Prioress in the Maitland and Santa Sabina communities and was a dedicated Assistant to the Dominican Laity over many years, serving on their National Council in the early 1990s.
Shirley felt particularly supported in her continuing ministry by her time at the Casa in Rome in 1985-1986, and at St Mary of the Woods, Indiana where she studied gerontology in 1992-1993. She knew how to enjoy every minute of her time overseas.
Shirley loved floral arranging and millinery-both were a significant part of her celebration of festive occasions. Amongst her effects was evidence of another 'hobby'-a letter from Bing Crosby sadly declining the invitation to her Silver Jubilee.
In poor health, Shirley moved to St Clare's Unit at Our Lady of Consolation Aged Care Services Rooty Hill in 2005. Here she was beautifully cared for by the staff, and lovingly and devotedly companioned during her long journey to God by Sr Rose Mary Kinne OP and Sr June Peck OP. Shirley died on 2nd June 2014, aged 87, in the 69th year of her life as a member of the Dominican Community.
As her Dominican Sisters we ponder the wealth, and the mystery, of Shirley's long life and rejoice that Shirley is joyfully living the fullness of God, in the company of her family members and friends who have gone before her.

Skaføgård is a manor house in the parish of Hvilsager in Syddjurs Municipality in the eastern Jutland peninsula of Djursland, Denmark. It is not one of Denmark's largest manor-houses, but one of the best preserved. Inside there is an enormous oak closet carved by the Dutch carpenter Mikkel van Gronningen whose most famous work is the pulpit in Århus Cathedral. The closet covers 13 m2 (140 sq ft) of wall space and, in view of its rich detail, is considered to be one of the most outstanding examples of carved wooden Renaissance furniture in Northern Europe
History
Skaføgård was built around 1580 by Danish nobleman Jørgen Rosenkrantz (1523-1596) who had two sons: Otto Rosenkrantz and Holger Rosenkrantz (1574-1642). As soon as he was able, he built a manor for both of them: Skaføgård and Rosenholm in 1559. Unfortunately Otto died early, after which Skaføgård became a dower house for Jørgen's wife, Dorthe Lange, until her death in 1613. After this the estate was handed over to the son Holger. His son Gunde Rosenkrantz (1604-1675) had to sell it in 1647 because of poor finances. After that the estate often changed hands in the following century. [3][4] [5]
One of the later owners was Jacob Brønnum Scavenius Estrup (1825-1913) who acquired it in 1852. His descendants still own Skaføgård.

Skærbæk Uldspinderi is an old well-preserved spinning mill from 1889. The spinning mill got wool from farmers who kept sheep in the marshes and on Rømø, and produced woollen yarn and woven textiles. The spinning mill was in operation until 2000 and is today a working museum with limited opening hours. It is possible to book a conducted tour of the mill.
Skærbæk Uldspinderis history
Skærbæk wool spinning mill can trace its history back to 1889. Spinning mill was built by Markus Christian Petersen, who was the son of dyer Broder Petersen from North Skærbæk. The spinning craft had until then been an every man activity that was going on out on the farms with old-fashioned spinning wheels, but Markus Christian Petersen would industrialize spinning mill at Skærbæk countryside. The entire Spinderiet building complex was built at the same time, and it was originally planned that the entire wool processing from newly washed wool to finished woolen goods should be the same place. The finished woolen goods were uncoloured wool, dyed wool yarn and woven woolen textiles.

Spinderiet on Kirkevej 13 in Skærbæk was built in 1889 by Markus Christian Petersen (1847 to 1934). He was the son of the Broder Petersen I (1812-1903), who for many years had operated a dye on a farm in Astrupvej 28 in North-Skærbæk. Markus Christian Petersen drives both spinning and dyeing. |
