Lauge Steffensen and a son in Ribe Cathedral
From one of the side wings of a three-winged epitaph in Ribe Cathedral, where the portraits are the oldest preserved bourgeois epitaph portraits in Denmark. The inscription, which no longer exists, read: "The heirs had the tomb made in 1569". That is 15 years after the death of the parents. The central image, a painting of the Resurrection, has been lost.

Portrætsamlingen på Frederiksborg Slot.
Laurids Engelstoft (born 2 December 1774 in Gislum vicarage, died 14 March 1851 ) was a Danish historian who also participated in the administration of the Danish university and school system.
Life
He was the son of the priest Christian Engelstoft, who taught him until he was 15 years old. In 1796 he received a degree in theology from the University of Copenhagen . But instead of becoming a priest, he continued his studies and received his philosophical doctorate in 1797. Together with Thorlacius , he received a scholarship for a study trip abroad. He lived for a year and a half in France .
In 1802 he was appointed assistant professor of history and geography at the University of Copenhagen, and the following year as extraordinary professor. In 1805 he became secretary of the "Directorate of the University and the Scholarly Schools", where he came to carry out extensive work until 1848, from 1812 as an assessor . He contributed to the reforms in Denmark's university and school system during these years.
In 1811 he was elected secretary of the commission that would carry out the approved establishment of a new university in Christiania. Later he followed the Norwegian university's development with interest from Denmark. He also worked for the restoration of Sorø Academy .
