Christiansen will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary next Sunday, 2-5 p.m. at a reception in the Turf Room at the Humboldt County Faiargrounds. The reception will be hosted by their children. All friends and relation are invited to attend this event. No formal invitations are being sent. The couple has requested no gifts. Christiansen and the former Helene Nielsen were married by the Rt. Rev. Noel Porter at the Episcopal Church in San Jose, on January 8, 1923. The Christiansen's are the parents of five children. Ralph who passed away in 1933, Robert of Santa Rosa; Donald of Davis; and Joyce Cooper and Janice Wohler, both of Eureka. In addition, they have ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Christiansen recently retired as street superintendant for the city of Ferndale, and Mrs. Christiansen has worked for a number of years for Eureka Fisheries. Born in Ferndale, Mrs. Christiansen is the daughter of the late Rasmus and Jessie Nielsen. She has one brother, Edward Nielsen of Ferndale and a sister, Lois Franklin of Oceano. Christiansen, born in Loleta, is the son of the late John and Amalia Christiansen of Ferndale who celebrated their own golden anniversary in 1941. • Obituary: 25 Sep 1952, Eureka Humboldt Standard; PIONEER HUMBOLDT MATRON DIES IN EUREKA HOME Mrs. Amalie Christiansen, 87, of Eureka and a former pioneer resident of Ferndale, succumbed Wednesday evening, at 3416 M Streett, where she had been living for several months. Mrs. Christiansen was born in Todsbull, Denmark on 27 Feb 1865, came to Humboldt County when a young girl and has lived here since then in the area, the last 10 years in Eureka. She was the wife of the late John Christiansen, and they had celebrated their Golden Wedding at Ferndale in January, 1941. The matron was an honorary member of the Ydun Lodge of Ferndale. Surviving are her children, Mrs. Meta C. Grahm of Eureka; Mrs. Peter (Christine) Petersen of Eureka; Mrs. Linus S. (Mabel) Hicks of Ferndale, and Harry P. Christiansen of Loleta. One son, Chris J. Christiansen is deceased. Mrs. Christiansen is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ellen Smith of San Francisco and a brother, L. P. Bundesen of Grants Pass, Oregon. The funeral services have been arranged for Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, in the Citizens Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Anders Steensen to officiate.
