    Ove Thisen Foss (1746-1792)

Ove was born in Sønderho on 13 June 1737, in the middle of his father's tenure.
He graduated from the academy in 1758 and became an assistant and successor in Sønderho in 1760. When Rafn died on 1 June 1764, Ove Foss therefore immediately took over the office as parish priest.

He was married to Sophie Friis, who was the daughter of the priest in Nordby, Niels Friis.

Ove Foss was a priest in Sønderho for 28 years, and it was during his tenure that the new church was built. Therefore, his initials also hang on the east gable: OF followed by the year 1782, which was the year of inauguration.
He managed to be a priest in the new church for 9 years before he died on October 25, 1791.

It is interesting and unusual that all the priests in Sønderho have been related to each other for 250 years. Only the penultimate, Poul Rafn came from outside. And he was even just a weak parenthesis in history until Foss' son was old enough to continue the lineage.

    At the original Sønderho Church:

    Jens Lauridsen Foss (1727-1749)
Born on 18 December 1694 as the son of parish priest Laurids Davidsen Foss in Pjedsted vicarage near Vejle.

JL Foss graduated from Horsens Latin School in 1715 and from the academy in 1719. After that he first taught children in various vicarages for 5 years, after which he taught at Ribe Latin School for 3 years.

On 28 February 1727 he became an assistant and successor to Christian Engelstoft, and finally he took over the office as parish priest in Sønderho on 22 May 1739.
Completely in line with Chr. Engelstoft's other activities, however, he did not resign from office without first making sure that Foss gave him a pension for the rest of his life! So Foss had to buy into the not very lucrative vocation.
To Foss' luck, it only took 3½ years before Engelstoft died.

Jens Lauridsen was the son of Laurits Davidsen Foss af Ribe Cathredal

    At the original Sønderho Church:
    Peder Laugesen Lipstrup (1625-1667)

Peder Lauesen was a farmer's son from Lipstrup in Nebel parish. The same year he took office, he married his predecessor's widow, Margrethe Greisdatter Terpager.

The couple had many children, of whom those who lived long enough to reach adulthood all became priests. Except for the daughter who became a priestess.

Peder Lauesen had major problems with sand escape, and with the "enemies", and therefore complained to the diocesan authorities in 1654. From the complaint it can be seen that already in 1632 he had been granted an eternal pension by Lydom and Lønne parish and by Riberhus 2 tdr. rye and 2 tdr. barley.

He must have been a very capable and diligent man, and even prepared his 4 sons for the academy.

He died July 4, 1677, and was a priest for over 52 years.

    Niels Lauridsen Struch (1667-1703)

Born in 1642 and Borgermand's son from Ribe. In 1667 he became an aide and successor to Peder Laugesen. He married Laugesen's daughter, Ingeborg Pedersdatter. The couple had a son and a daughter. The daughter, Anna Nielsdatter Struch, married NL Struch's successor in office, Christian Olufsen Engelstoft.

In the probate extracts, the deceased, heirs, guardians, guardians and other specified family relations are stated, and reference is made to probate after previous spouses. However, the guardian and guardian are not stated if they are already stated as family, just as the place of employment is not stated for heirs. No personal register has been prepared, but personal names are standardized, e.g. both Laurs, Lars and Las are stated as Laurids, however, the name Lassen is stated in the case of estate persons. The spelling of place names follows Trap's 5th edition. Information in square brackets is not found in the current text, but is found in the church register, in censuses or elsewhere in the probate protocol. Reference is made to the folio, however, no reference is made to the resumption of the shift if it takes place in immediate continuation of the previous one.
