Organist at St. Nikolaj church, Vejle, Johannes Wolthers (1889-1957) was born in Kolding and is the son of masons, Niels Christian Wolthers and Johanne Marie Thomsen. He was married in Sjørring in 1918 to "Elna" Nielna Pedersen Leegaard (1888-) born in Rosvang, Sjørring and is the daughter of an inspector, Johannes Pedersen Leegaard and Ane Martine Nielsen.

Born in Kolding, graduated from Copenhagen's organ school in 1909. In 1917 Wolthers was employed as an organist at Sct. Nicolai Church in Vejle. Wolthers came to mean a lot to the city's music life, both as a musician and arranger, as a writer and as a co-founder of Vejle Concert Association .
Wolthers wrote a little book about Sct. History of Nicolai Church (1949) and "Organists and city musicians in Vejle from 1600 to 1941".
"When an anonymous donor donated the bell to the church, organist Johs. Wolther was immensely active and interested, and it is he who is the composer of the beautiful melody that every dinner sounds from St. Nicolai Kirk's tower, a small simple and fine composition, which testifies to Wolther's clear and strong sense of the peculiar beauty of the carillon ( Vejle Amts Avis , 18 January 1957).
Buried at Søndre Cemetery in Vejle.
