The probate extracts state the deceased, heirs, guardians, guardians and other specified family relations, and reference is made to probate after previous spouses. However, the guardian and guardian are not stated if they are already stated as family, just as the place of employment is not stated for heirs. No personal register has been prepared but personal names are standardized, e.g. both Laurs, Lars and Las are stated as Laurids, however a distinction is made between the names Lassen and Lauridsen. The spelling of place names follows Trap's 5th edition. Information in square brackets is not found in the current text, but is found in the church register, in censuses or elsewhere in the probate protocol. Reference is made to the page, however, no reference is made to the resumption of the shift if it takes place in immediate continuation of the previous one.

    Birth:
    Anna Andersdatter Videl

This Bertel Strunch is one of Taarnborg's most remarkable residents. According to the sources, he appears to be a bit of a lucky knight. Struch was born in Scania around 1550. Nothing is known about him until he appears in Copenhagen in 1589-90, without him obtaining citizenship. You know he is in Copenhagen because he is unlucky with a gold chain, which he got as a mortgage and then borrowed 550 rigsdaler. As it turned out, however, the chain was only in mortgage with the mortgagor and he lost most of his money. In 1591, the rich councilor in Ribe, Peder Baggesen, dies and his widow Dorete sits back in the prestigious building Porsborg by the cathedral with some goods. Struch came to the city in 1593 and here he became popular among people as a successful negotiator for Bishop Peder Hegelundby his 3rd marriage.

As early as October 23, Struch himself is engaged to the rich widow Dorete Baggesen and they are legally married December 9, 1593.

When his wife dies in 1602, he marries two years later, August 26, 1604, Anders Sørensen Vedel's daughter Anna and moves into Taarnborg.

Struch was a team man and several times lent large sums for repairs of the cathedral and for the construction of Sct. Katarinæ church tower in 1617. He founded a scholarship for the benefit of the three poorest teachers at the cathedral school in 1616 and he donated together with his first wife's eldest son in 1602 7 homes in Klostergade to poor homes for honest Danes and women. Struch was proposed as mayor in 1606, but had to suffer the tort of not being elected, allegedly because he had a very combative mind and was involved in lawsuits, among others. a. with his first wife's children about their inheritance.

He participated in several juries at Riber court in Grønnegade and as such sentenced August 27, 1610 Anna Harchis to the fire as a true witch. Bertel Struch died on May 28, 1621.

His second wife Anna Vedel survived him and did not die until 1655. But even before she became a widow, she had lost her mind and was bedridden. For the first few years she lived at Taarnborg, but then moved in with her son-in-law.

In 1648 part of her fortune was set aside for her care and the rest was divided between the heirs. She died very wealthy and her wealth amounted to 15296 rigsdaler as well as an equally large sum in real estate.

Anders Sørensen Vedel (9 November 1542-13 February 1616)[1] was a Danish priest and historian. He translated the Gesta Danorum by Saxo Grammaticus into Danish in 1575, and published the influential "Hundredvisebogen" in 1591.

    Biography
Anders Sørensen was born in Vejle, from which place the Vedel name comes.[2] At 14 years old, he moved to study in Ribe, and after finishing his education he moved on to Copenhagen University in 1561.[2] In 1562, he was the tutor of astronomer Tycho Brahe on Brahe's Grand Tour in Europe,[1] forming a lasting bond of friendship with him.[2] Vedel started studying at Wittenberg in 1565,[1] which he finished in 1566, and was appointed priest at Copenhagen Castle in 1568.[3] Vedel's historical knowledge was admired by leading politicians including Christoffer Valkendorf, Bjørn Andersen, Arild Huitfeldt, Johan Friis and Peder Oxe, and he was seen as the right man to continue Christiern Pedersen's Danish language translation of the Latin chronicle Gesta Danorum by Saxo Grammaticus.[2]

He started his translation in 1570, and the finished work "Den danske Krønicke" was published in 1575.[1] The work was both a translation and rewriting of the original Latin phrases.[2] While working on the translation, he was given the income of a canon at Ribe Cathedral in 1573.[1] After pressure from Peder Oxe, Niels Kaas, and Jørgen Rosenkrantz [dk],[2] Vedel wrote a proposal for a Latin continuation of Saxo's work in 1578 which was finalized in 1581.[3] He was relieved of his priesthood in Copenhagen, and moved to Ribe in 1581.[2]

He was appointed Royal historian in 1584 and received a prelature at Ribe to support himself,[2] and undertook the task of continuing the Danish chronicle in that year.[4] However, he overreached himself in his attempt to do so. He planned an ambitious work in twenty-two books dealing with both language[5] and topography as well as with history.[2] However other tasks, lack of help from secretaries,[2] his own slowness and carefulness?and perhaps also a general underestimation of the demands of this work?led to very modest results. In 1594, after the death of chancellor Niels Kaas,[2] the task was given to Niels Krag,[4] under Vedel's protestations.[2] He got a one-year reprieve, but could not produce satisfactory results, after which he turned his work over to Niels Krag.[2] Much of what he had written was lost at the fire of Copenhagen in 1728.

One spin-off from this task which survived was his "Hundredvisebogen" (1591) of a hundred Danish ballads which became a solid foundation of later knowledge of the older Danish literary tradition.[3] It was published with the support of Queen Sophie (it has been suggested that as a result, Vedel opted to omit certain ballads which portrayed a Queen Sophie ? ostensibly Sophia of Minsk ? in a negative light[6]).[4] Vedel's one hundred songs were republished by Peder Syv in 1695, as half of his collection of 200 folksongs. Vedel's own re-creation of some of the ballads shows his ability as a poet. In the Faroe Islands, texts from "Hundredvisebogen" have been in use among folk singers right up until today.[7]

Vedel died on 13 February 1616 in Ribe.

Famous poet / Anders Sorensen Vedel 1542-1616

Anders Sorensen Vedel, was not a writer as one would think, but one of the earliest Literary Historians known. It was with the work, and very extensive at that, he had collected old ballads, sagas, and eddas from Denmark?s culture and saved them for later study and enjoyment. Vedel did not write his own pieces, but recorded the tales of Denmark and saved their stories and legends for future generations.

Vedel was a clergyman at the royal court. In 1591 he published his Et hundrede udvalde danske viser, a collection of 100 medieval Danish folk songs and ballads.

    Jørgen Sadolin

Jørgen Jensen Sadolin (c. 1490-29 December 1559 in Odense) was a Danish reformer, the son of Jens Christensen, a curate and subsequently a canon of Viborg Cathedral, and consequently, in all probability, born c. 1499 out of wedlock, as his Catholic opponents frequently took care to remind him.

He himself never used the name Sadolin, which seems to have been invented subsequently by his son Hans, and points to the fact that the family were originally saddle-makers.

We first hear of him on 1 December 1525, when Frederick I permitted him to settle at Viborg to teach young persons of the poorer classes "whatever might be profitable." On this occasion he is described as "magister" and no doubt got his degree abroad, where he seems to have been won for the Reformation.

He sided with Hans Tausen when the latter first began to preach the gospel at Viborg and Tausen, though himself only in priest's orders, shortly before he left the place, ordained Sadolin (1529). Amongst "the free priests" who attended the herredag of Copenhagen in 1530 Sadolin occupied a prominent place. Frederick subsequently transferred him to Funen, where he acted, according to his own expression, as "adjutor in verbo" to the Bishop of Odense.

At the diocesan council on 27 May 1532, during the absence of the bishop, he presented to the assembled priests a translation of Luther's catechism, with Luther's name omitted, preceded earnestly in favour of a better system of education and a more practical application of the Christian life, which occupies a conspicuous place in the literature of the Danish Reformation. In the following year Sadolin published the first Danish translation of the Confession of Augsburg.

On 2 September 1537 he was consecrated by the German reformer, Johann Bugenhagen, who himself only had priest's orders, superintendent, or first evangelical bishop, of Funen.

As bishop he was remarkable for the success with which he provided the necessary means for the support of churches, schools and hospitals in his widespread diocese, which had been deprived of its usual sources of income by the wholesale confiscation of church property. Towards the Catholics he adopted a firm, but moderate and reasonable, tone, and his indulgence towards the monks in St Knud's cloister drew down upon him a fierce attack from the Puritan clergyman of Odense, who absurdly accused him of being a crypto-Catholic. He gave the funeral oration over Christian III in St John's Church at Odense in February 1559, though now very infirm and blind, and died at the end of the same year.
