    • Obituary: 12 Jun 1939, Canton Newspaper; Obituary Mrs. Elma Stell Dies Following Hip Injury Mrs Elma Stell, 71, died at 6:50 a.m. today at her home, 63 West Spruce street, following injuries sustained nine weeks ago when she fell and broke her left hip. Born in Putman township, Aug. 11, 1867, a daughter of Peter and Catherine (Hansen) Bundesen, she was married to John Stell, who died in 1917. Children are: Clarence, Cuba; Alvin, Canton; and Mrs. Kathryn Collins, also of Canton. William and James Bundesen, Cuba and Henry Bundesen, Avon, are brothers. Grandsons are James Stell and Jerry Collins. A daughter, Letha, died in 1901. A brother, Peter and a sister, Mary, also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Cuba Methodist church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Murphy Memorial Home. Burial will be in Saunders cemetery in Putman township. Friends may call at Murphy's. Dr. Mark S. JURY DECIDES FRACTURE SHOCK WAS DEATH CAUSE A coroner's jury last evening returned a verdict attributing the death of Mrs. Elma Stell, 63 West Spruce Street, Canton, Illinois, as due to shock resulting from a fracture of the left hip. Mrs. Stell died yesterday at her home; she fractured her hip in a fall on April 12, 1939. The inquest, held at Murphy Memorial Home was conducted by Dr. Mark S. Nelson, coroner. Witnesses were a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Collins, Dr. H. D. Putman, and Mrs. Helen Gore Ross. Jurors were George Kostitch, foreman, Leornard Payne, John Kovachevich, August Nelson, George Ruey, and George Clewell.
    • Funeral Service: 15 Jun 1939, Murphy Memorial Home; Many Attend Funeral of Mrs. Elma Stell A large crowd attended funeral services for Mrs. Elma Stell yesterday afternoon at the Murphy Memorial Home. Dr. Arthur H. Smith, pastor of the Farmington Methodist church, officiated. Mrs. Helen Gore Ross sang, with Miss Agnes Christopher, organist. There were many floral offerings. Pallbearers were Ethan Blackaby, Harry Henderson and Cleve, Datus, Fosket and Ross Saunders. Burial was in Saunders cemetery. This Obituary has been kindly shared by Jen Harrington, USA, G.
