    • DEATH OF MRS JANE KING.

Another link of the past has been broken in the passing away of Mrs Jane King, aged 82, at the home of her daughter (Mrs Watson), at Mt. Olive, on Sunday morning. The late Mrs King, who had resided in the Singleton district for over 30 years, was a very highly respected citizen, a devoted mother to her family, and an enthusiastic member of her church, and she will be much missed by her family and a large circle of friends. She was tenderly nursed in her last illness by her two daughters, Mrs Watson, of Mt. Olive, and Mrs Jack Ayton, of Maison Dieu and niece (Mrs Carey, of Sydney). Her son Henry arrived on Saturday morning from Queensland, and so was able to be with her to the end. Her daughter Lilian was home to see her a few months ago from Queensland. A son, Eric, also resides in Queensland. Two daughters (Mrs Frank Andrews and Mrs Soloman) predeceased their mother. The late Mrs King was twice married. A son by the first marriage, Mr Jack Gemmel, paid the supreme sacrifice in 1916. The funeral, which, despite the terrific heat, was largely attended, took place on Monday, the remains being laid to rest in the Presbytorian cemetery at Glenridding beside those of her daughter Bella (the late Mrs P. Andrews). A service was conducted in the house by Mr Gibbs, a friend of Mrs King, and by Rev. Rapkins at the graveside, and a bible reading and prayer by Mr Gibbs. The deepest sympathy of the district goes out to the bereaved family in the loss of such a devoted mother.
