STAWELL. While returning to his home at Doctor's Creek on Saturday night Joseph Munch, an elderly man, was knocked down and maltreated close to the Sloanes and Scotchmans mine. The assailant was a young man, tall, wearing a grey coat and black hat. Munch's pockets were rifled, but the garotter was only rewarded with a penny, failing to locate a postal note in an inside pocket. Munch believes he can indentify the man.
