- Thomas William Shambrook born 21st March, 1879, died 14th May, 1879 and his Sister Mary Ann, who drowned at Finch's Bay near Cooktown when she was 10 years and 6 months of age, were buried in the same grave in Cooktown Cemetary, Grave No. 376/375.
The inscription on the grave of Mary Ann and Thomas William reads:
In memory of Mary Anne, the dearly beloved daughter of Joseph and Mary Anne Shambrook, who was unfortunately drowned when bathing in Finch's Bay, 19th October, 1879, aged 10 years and 6 months.
Let flowers be plucked and strew the path
O'er which the dead are borne
Flowers murmur not
Got plucks our flowers to strew his throne
Then murmur not.
Also their dearly beloved infant son Thomas William, died 11th may, 1879, aged 7 weeks.
