GREER-BOGE
An exceedingly pretty, stylish, and popular wedding was solemnised in St Paul's Church, Taabinga Village road, on Wednesday afternoon. The contracting parties being Mr Thomas Greer, and Miss Ethel Boge, second daughter of Mrs M. Boge.
A large party of guests and friends assembled to witness the ceremony was conducted by Reverend W. C. Wigram. The church was charmingly decorated for the occasion with archings and festoons of white and red roses, and above the bride there hung a beautiful floral bell. The bride was escorted to the alter by her brother, Mr A. Boge, and he also gave her away. The bridesmaids were Misses K. Boge, L. Greer, Hilda and Lily Boge. The bridegroom was supported by Mr R. Green, as best man, and Mr W. Greer, as groomsman.
Miss Woodward presided at the organ and played the wedding hymn on the bride's entry and the wedding march on her departure from the church.
When the wedding ceremony was over the party drove to Akesson's Hall to partake of the wedding feast. Somewhere about 80 guests sat at the tables, the majority of them family relations living in the district, and many of them, too, old time Mary River dwellers. After the customary felicitous speeches, the happy and handsome couple drove to Kingaroy and boarded the evening train en route to Gympie and Brisbane. They were plentifully showered with rice, and several fog signals gave them a parting salute.
In the evening a still larger party were Mrs. Boge's guests at a dance in Mr. Akesson's spacious hall when "all went merry as a marriage bell".
The wedding presents were numerous and included a valuable and handsome collection of silver furnishings. They were much admired.
The graceful bride was prettily atired in a bridal gown of ivory louissene silk, draped skirt trimmed bobble fringes , semi-empire style slightly trained with sprays of orange blossoms. The bodice was crossover folds, tucked chiffon yoke (back and front) and silk chiffon lace with a spray of orange blossoms across the front, wreath and veil. She carried a shower bouquet and wore a wreath brooch with sprays of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. The chief bridesmaids wore cross Japanese silk, and draped skirts trimmed with pink filled insertion. The bodice was lace with square of filled insertion and there were pretty summer hate trimmed with flowers.
The younger maids wore pretty silk dresses and white hats trimmed with blue. They carried shower bouquets and wore pretty brooches, the gifts of the bridegroom .
Miss Hastings, maid of honour, wore a costume of lavender floral voile trimmed Paris insertion, mushroom hat, beehive crown, trimmed with flowers and lavender ribbon.
Mrs. Boge, mother of the bride, wore a blue floral, voile black hat relieved with blue flowers.
Mrs. S. Greer wore black silk and a pretty black hat.
Mrs. Bundesen, grandmother of the bride, wore a black voile costume.
Mrs. Olsson wore a louissene silk and a black hat. Mrs. Frank Boge preferred white muslin and a summer hat trimmed with roses.
