    • HODGENS-APLIN.

The Sacred Heart Church, Maleny, was the scene of a picturesque wedding on July 9, when Major Sydney Francis Hodgens, D.S.O., Bald Knob (youngest son of Mrs. and the late Mr. Thomas Hodgens, of Brisbane), was married to Mavis Bristol Aplin (youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Aplin, Cloverdale, Maleny, and granddaughter of the late Hon. William Aplin). The Rev. Father O'Connor officiated. The church had been tastefully decorated by girl friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, was gowned in white chenille georgette, with the bodice and hip yoke scalloped and the skirt showing ankle length draperies of mariette. Her veil of silk net edged with silk lace was worn in Madonna fashion with net under the chin, tied on one side and finished with clusters of orange blossoms over each ear, and a spray circling the back of the head. She carried a shower bouquet of snowdrops, jonquils, arum lilies, and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid. Miss Alma Aplin (sister of the bride), wore a frock of apricot crepe de Chine with blue and silver trimmings, and a hat to tone. Her bouquet consisted of pink sweet peas and stocks. Mr. W. Aplin (brother of the bride) performed the duties of best man. Miss Q. Mills presided at the organ, and Mrs. E. Thynne rendered a vocal solo during the signing of the register. After the ceremony, a receotion was held at Cloverdale. The bride's mother received her guests wearing an ensemble grey crepe de Chine frock, and a navy Marocain coat trimmed with grey fur, and hat to tone. The bridal couple left by car for the North Coast. Mrs. Hodgens wearing a grey tailored costume, with a blue felt hat, and fur choker. The bouquets were made by Mrs. E. Smith.
