Mr. Daniel Brown, formerly of the Richmond river, died at Boonoo Boonoo, near Tenterfield, recently. He is survived by a widow, Emily Louisa, five sons, Leonard, of Lismore, Clarence, Arthur and Norman, of Clunes, and John, of Lismore, as well as four daughters, Mrs. E. J. Taylor, of
Yamba, Mrs. Martin and Miss M. Brown, of Clunes, and Mrs. A.
Smith, of Old Bonalbo.
When the first milking machines were introduced on the South Coast, Mr. Brown, for a wager, competed against the machines. He won, milking 20 cows in the hour. When the
timber industry on the South Coast gave way to the better supplies on the North Coast Mr. Brown came to the Richmond, where he followed the dairying industry until recent
years.
